Formation of Sub-committees
l To extend the magnificent support of volunteer parents and to reinforce certain input to meet various targets, six different work groups of sub-committees are formed to widen the scope of the services of SSCPTA effectively.
l Other than the original post in the committee, all ex-co members are entitled to join one of the sub-committees to implement various activities. One ex-co coordinator and one teacher advisor are appointed to link up the manpower of parent volunteers.
l Year plan and activities would be proposed by each committee to make a good balance in all aspects of needs.
l All volunteer parents are welcome to join one of the following sub-committees.
Parents’ Relations & Recreation Committee
To foster the relations among parents, students and our college through implementing various activities in a relaxed atmosphere so as to strengthen family-school partnerships.
Organizing a PTA family outing, a tea party & heritage walk, parents volunteers BBQ etc. which would provide a good opportunity for families or ‘new members’ for a social gathering platform to get acquainted and share views with each other; assisting school activities by supporting F.1 orientation, special events and building team spirit through the recreational entertainment of SSC parents & the alumni football team.
Parenting & Support Committee
To give support to parents’ education and assist them to develop the skills they need to raise and protect their child in this new generation.
Organizing educational seminars or workshop for effective parenting and topics concerned about resolving teenagers’ problems, grouping parent fellowship, keeping parent resources, book recommendations.
Pre-University Education Committee (PUEC)
To develop between educators and the parents such united efforts to provide advice and support for all the students and their parents in preparing for and selecting the right university to develop the talents of our students.
Conduct seminars for university or career research, educational tours or visits to enterprises; Support teachers in resolving pre-university preparation problems via workshops; Co-ordinate with the teachers to provide insights into different careers to facilitate the selection of courses at university and co-ordinate with the Parenting & Support Committee to provide a family resource/ library dedicated to pre-university preparation matters.
School Matters & Welfare Committee
To monitor all school matters relating to student welfare, policy, future plans and development in order to promote the welfare for student for their forthcoming school life.
Participation of the parent representative in the Food & Trade Operations Monitoring Committee; gathering feedback and suggestions of parents; meeting with school and suppliers; reflect the needs of our students and concerns of our parents to the school, including school bus services, school uniforms, school meal canteen, student discipline and boarding life.
Volunteer Services Committee
To enhance the responsibilities to our society by caring for others. With the participation of both parents and children in charitable events, parents can be role models to give guidance to our children so that they grow into happy, healthy and responsible citizens.
Visits to elderly; charity fund-raising support; guiding student services inside or outside of school and assisting SSC Alumni Association joint activities in community services.
Communications & Technical Supports Committee
To bridge the communication among parents, students, teachers and SSCPTA by Newsletters, PTA Homepage, promote tight relations by sharing information via printed matters or giving out souvenir; to advise parents on how to protect their children from the Internet and cell phone misuse.
Co-operate with support team and student volunteers in the preparation of PTA Newsletters, technical contributions in PTA Homepage and related computer services, such as upload news & circular, graphic design and photography; contribute support in the event of ‘Parents-Also-Appreciate-Teacher’ drive; follow up printing matters or souvenirs; organize seminar to teach parents about cyber bullying and how to monitor their children’s online activities.
